Author’s Note: According to the “Serenity” novelization Mr. Universe and Wash went to flight school together. Wash found out that Mr. Universe’s extremely good grades were because he was hacking the computer. In exchange for Wash keeping silent Mr. Universe agreed to give him information. A deal that lasted up into the movie.
